Trusted Hearing Aid Brands

at Doctors of Hearing, Inc.

At Doctors of Hearing, we work with the seven leading hearing aid manufacturers in the industry. These brands are recognized for their advanced technology, reliability, and strong customer support. Based on our clinical expertise and extensive patient feedback, we have carefully selected equipment that consistently delivers excellent outcomes. Major hearing aid brands like the ones we are about to introduce do not "lock" their devices, allowing other audiologists and hearing aid specialists to adjust them using standard industry software.

Doctors of Hearing provides hearing solutions that are intuitive and dependable. We work exclusively with established manufacturers and offer a wide range of technology options, recognizing that no single brand is right for every patient. Working with every leading brand in our industry necessitates extensive effort and time from our company and our audiologists as we do not buy in bulk from just one manufacturer.

This is one of the many things that makes Doctors of Hearing, Inc unique in this industry because we believe it is in the best interest of our patients to have access to all of these brands. Our goal is to match each individual with the hearing aid type and manufacturer that best fits their hearing needs, lifestyle, and preferences.

While all hearing aid brands offer a variety of styles and solutions, our clinical experience shows that certain brands perform better for specific hearing needs. We carefully consider questions such as:

  • Which brand is most suitable forthistype of hearing loss?

  • Which style of hearing aid will provide the best results?

  • Is the patient a candidate for a CROS/BiCROS hearing aid, and which manufacturer offers the best option?

  • Which brands provide the most feedback suppression for a specific hearing loss?

  • Which brands are compatible with cochlear implants?

  • Which brand is most effective for tinnitus management?

  • Which hearing aids are preferred by musicians?

  • Which brands work best for severe or profound hearing loss?

  • Which custom, invisible hearing aids are available without a subscription plan and safe?

  • When are assistive listening devices recommended or required?

By understanding each manufacturer’s processing strategies and fitting formulas, we are able to recommend the options that tend to provide the best outcomes for specific hearing profiles. Because hearing care is a long-term commitment, choosing the right technology and hearing aid algorithm matters. We recommend only brands that are widely supported, cost-effective to maintain, and easily adjustable over time. These devices can be serviced by most audiologists and trained technicians, ensuring continuity of care and long-term support wherever life takes you. Below we have provided some information about these leading brands.

Phonak (Swiss company) International was founded in 1947.

Founded in 1947, Phonak is a Swiss-based hearing aid manufacturer headquartered near Zurich, Switzerland. As a member of the Sonova Group, Phonak has spent decades developing, producing, and distributing advanced hearing systems and wireless technologies worldwide.

The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of digital hearing instruments and wireless communication solutions. A major player with extensive pediatric experience. Phonak hearing aids uses evidence-based algorithms like DSL v5a and NAL to provide age-appropriate gain and compression for children, ensuring access to speech and sounds crucial for development.

For Adults, Phonak uses proprietary fitting formulas like APD 2.0 (Adaptive Phonak Digital), to balance speech clarity and comfort, adapting compression speeds automatically for different listening situations. Phonak algorithms are sophisticated sound processing technologies within their hearing aids, using AI and machine learning (like AutoSense OS) to automatically adapt to listening environments, enhancing speech clarity by separating it from noise, and managing sound dynamics for better understanding, even in complex situations, with key features including Speech EnhancerAdaptive Phonak Digital (APD) for fitting, and SoundRecover for frequency compression.

Phonak with a strong global presence, continues to set industry standards for performance and connectivity.

ReSound

ReSound is a global hearing aid manufacturer known for innovative technology designed to deliver natural sound quality and seamless connectivity. Founded in Denmark and part of the GN Group, ReSound combines decades of expertise in audiology with advanced engineering to create hearing solutions that support clearer speech and more comfortable listening in everyday environments.

ReSound hearing aids are built with a strong focus on sound clarity, spatial awareness, offers the smallest receiver in the canal hearing aids. The "ReSound algorithm" refers to various signal processing technologies in ReSound hearing aids, focusing on natural sound, speech clarity, and feedback management, using techniques like Sound Shaper (logarithmic frequency mapping for clarity), Binaural Directionality (mimicking natural head shadowing for sound localization), DFS Ultra (advanced digital feedback suppression), and modern Deep Neural Networks (DNN) for AI-driven sound separation.

Widex

Widex is a globally respected hearing aid manufacturer known for its commitment to natural sound quality and innovative hearing technology. Founded in Denmark, Widex has built a reputation for combining advanced engineering with a deep understanding of how people perceive sound.

Widex algorithms focus on delivering natural sound through advanced processing, using AI and machine learning (like SoundSense Learn) for personalized adjustments in real-time and incorporating individual ear acoustics with TruAcoustics™ (or True Acoustics) for precise fitting, optimizing gain and settings for an authentic, detailed auditory experience that learns from user preferences over time

Widex hearing aids are designed to deliver clear, rich, and natural sound while minimizing listening effort. Through ongoing research and close collaboration with hearing care professionals, Widex continues to develop technologies that enhance speech clarity, comfort, and overall listening experience.

Oticon

Oticon is a leading global hearing aid manufacturer recognized for its innovative approach to hearing technology and brain-centered hearing solutions. Founded in Denmark, Oticon is part of the Demant Group and has been advancing hearing care through research-driven innovation for more than a century.

Oticon's algorithm revolves around BrainHearing™ technology, using Deep Neural Networks (DNN 2.0) and AI to mimic the brain's natural sound processing, analyzing a full 360-degree soundscape to separate speech from noise more effectively, especially in complex environments, providing clearer, more natural sound by understanding user intent through sensors and adapting support in real-time, moving beyond traditional noise reduction to give a richer auditory picture. Oticon hearing aids also offer a pediatric line, like Phonak they also use evidence-based algorithms like DSL.

Starkey

Starkey is a leading American hearing aid manufacturer known for innovation, quality, and patient-centered technology. Founded in the United States, Starkey has a long-standing commitment to advancing hearing healthcare through research, design, and close collaboration with hearing care professionals.

Starkey’s algorithm uses advance digital signal processing (DSP) and artificial intelligence (AI) driving Starkey hearing aids, designed to mimic the brain's auditory system, enhance speech clarity, and reduce background noise in real-time, with technologies like Edge AI and Starkey Sound using deep neural networks (DNNs) for smart sound adjustments, fall detection, and health tracking, making them multifunctional health and communication devices. These algorithms, such as Voice iQ, dynamically analyze soundscapes to optimize audibility, intelligibility, and comfort in any environment, adapting millions of times per hour.

Starkey hearing aids combine advanced sound processing with modern connectivity and wellness-focused features designed to support everyday listening and overall well-being.
